UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of UNESCAP, Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, visited Astana Hub, the largest innovation center in Central Asia. Her expertise in economics and sustainable development is highly regarded worldwide.
Armida Alisjahbana is also a member of several key international organizations, including the Governing Board of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), the Indonesian Academy of Sciences, and the Forum of Statistics Community.
During her visit, she explored the Astana Hub ecosystem, gaining insight into the technology park’s infrastructure and the innovative technologies being developed by Kazakhstan’s startups.
“Innovation and entrepreneurship are thriving at Astana Hub. Fascinating to hear about the various apps and games developed to help – among others – ease commutes, kids learn basic IT, doctors diagnose head injuries & support parents of children with disabilities,” Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana said on her Twitter account.
The high-ranking guest met with several startups, including Ozim Platform, which provides education for children with special needs; CodiPlay, which promotes IT literacy through games; UvU, which focuses on safe transportation for children; CerebraAI, which uses AI for stroke diagnostics; O’games, known for the Car Parking Multiplayer project; and Grand Mobile, a leading mobile game developer with 5 million monthly users.
Astana Hub is Central Asia’s largest technology park, dedicated to fostering an ecosystem for tech businesses, training tech specialists, and supporting startup projects. Currently, more than 1,500 tech companies are registered at the technology park, including over 400 with foreign participation.
The Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation took place in Kazakhstan’s capital from September 3 to 5, 2024. The event, organized by UNESCAP in collaboration with the MDDIAI, brought together over 400 delegates from more than 30 countries.
